Ian Burdall
I am a photographer based in Saltaire. I have been fascinated by photography since I was a kid when I used to take photos of the places we visited as a family. I used my Dad's camera to take pictures of places as they were reflected in the curved chrome (well-polished) hub-caps of his car.
Over time I have become increasingly drawn to abstractions; to colour, blocks and blocks of colour; lines and shapes. Trying to get to the things that pictures are built from; the essential parts. I found that I was producing colour saturated shapes, good examples of which can be seen in the images of things in extreme close-up that I have produced. My interest has developed into trying to get a similar effect of abstraction to that achieved by artists I admire, such as Rothko.
